Self Portrait
I wrote this on July 8, 2007. Doctors said our child would not speak or have a normal life. Today she is earning college credits while in high school! While we could have given up year after year, love gave the strength to persist. The miracle of her life came because nothing withstands the strength of love. Every child is different, but why should we limit how far they can go by not trying every day? Never give up! I watch my daughter in the sun, I behold my daughter as she plays, I admire my daughter as she grows, A masterpiece adored by the sun’s rays. Behold the artists of the world, Of which I claim to be one, Each adding a brush stroke of color, Adding to the work being done. Who are the artists of the world, Who claim to create and guide? Are they the mature such as we, Are we just along for the ride? Astonishment confounds me, As my wisdom grows, For what few can see, Even fewer may know, We offer...
